In a crazy finale to the Kent Youth League Under-18 Premier Division North football season, Sevenoaks Town secured the title with the very last game of the season. Their 7-2 win over K Sports Youth was enough to keep them ahead of Phoenix Sports, who could only manage a 0-0 draw at Tunbridge Wells.
Having lost the cup final the previous weekend 0-1 to Folkestone Invicta, the Under 18s needed to pick themselves up and they did so in style. Team Manager, Darren Mace was delighted with his young charges and put their championship winning season down to the sheer quality in the team, pointing out that three of his squad have received call-ups to the
Sevenoaks Town 1st team this year. This was a real achievement in itself, given that the 1st Team have also been playing brilliantly and won their own league. Darren also had a kind word for the team’s tracksuit sponsor, So Clean Cleaning and Support Services of Orpington. “We’re really grateful to So Clean for helping us this year. Not only do they sponsor our kit, but they take a genuine interest in how we’re doing”.
Next season Darren goes on to take charge of the 1 st Team Reserves where he is hoping to repeat his success with the Under-18s.
